River Sister Flower Farm
River Sister Flower Farm is a woman-owned business combining the efforts of Carolyn Hulsey and Hillary Wilson Kimmel (PTB Farm) in growing and marketing flowers, starting in 2026. We offer weekly flower subscriptions, DIY buckets, bouquet popups, and wholesale flowers for florists and designers.
Carolyn Hulsey
Carolyn Hulsey has been growing food and flowers for her whole life. She is deeply committed to sustainability and local farms and has worked in and around farms and farmers markets since she was just a kid growing up in rural Pennsylvania. She also spent many years learning about the world and traveled and taught in various far-flung locations such as Vietnam, Greece, and Korea. Since 2023, she has managed the growing operations at River Twist Flower Farm. Carolyn is super excited for the 2026 growing season and can’t wait to grow high quality flowers for our bouquet subscriptions, market bouquets, and area florist and designers.
Hillary Wilson Kimmel
Hillary Wilson Kimmel has been growing food and flowers for her whole life too! Growing up on a small vegetable farm in the Appalachian Mountains, she became inspired from a young age to become a farmer. While in college, her commitment to local food and sustainable agriculture grew and eventually led her to meet Worth Kimmel, who was farming in the Piedmont. In 2014 Hillary and Worth started PTB Farm on Worth’s family land and began growing pork, lamb, mushrooms, flowers, and vegetables for two weekly farmers markets. Over the years, Worth and Hillary have developed a devoted following through their weekly farmers markets and coop program. But as parenting takes more time, we have decided to focus our energies on growing meats and flowers. To that end, Hillary is very excited to step back from year-round Saturday markets in 2026 and grow high quality flowers with her long-time co-conspirator, Carolyn for our bouquet subscriptions and area florists and designers.
Join our Bouquet Club today by purchasing a bouquet subscription. Easy online ordering and convenient pick-up options!
What is a bouquet club? At its core it is a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) that allows us to make income during the winter months when we have nothing blooming. Your purchase of one of our Bouquet Subscriptions provides us with literal seed money for our Spring flowers and in return you get a beautiful bouquet of long-lasting, locally grown flowers once a week. The start time will be determined by the flowers’ bloom timing, typically beginning in late March and lasting 4 weeks.
All of our flowers are grown on our farms in Jamestown and Reidsville which means all blooms are seasonal. Our Spring bouquets will include such flowers as Peonies, Ranunculus, Oralaya, Bupleurum, Snapdragons, Larkspur, Tulips, Campanula and more! We also have an option for just straight Tulip or Peony bunches in the Spring as well as an option to subscribe for additional months of the mixed bouquets! Our flowers bloom mid-March through the end of November so your bouquets will change with the seasons as we grow.
Want the latest news from our farms? We are beyond excited for the flower journey ahead of us this spring!
