River Sister Flower Farm

Carolyn Hulsey

Carolyn Hulsey has been growing food and flowers for her whole life. She is deeply committed to sustainability and local farms and has worked in and around farms and farmers markets since she was just a kid growing up in rural Pennsylvania. She also spent many years learning about the world and traveled and taught in various far-flung locations such as Vietnam, Greece, and Korea. Since 2023, she has managed the growing operations at River Twist Flower Farm. Carolyn is super excited for the 2026 growing season and can’t wait to grow high quality flowers for our bouquet subscriptions, market bouquets, and area florist and designers.

Hillary Wilson Kimmel

Hillary Wilson Kimmel has been growing food and flowers for her whole life too! Growing up on a small vegetable farm in the Appalachian Mountains, she became inspired from a young age to become a farmer. While in college, her commitment to local food and sustainable agriculture grew and eventually led her to meet Worth Kimmel, who was farming in the Piedmont. In 2014 Hillary and Worth started PTB Farm on Worth’s family land and began growing pork, lamb, mushrooms, flowers, and vegetables for two weekly farmers markets. Over the years, Worth and Hillary have developed a devoted following through their weekly farmers markets and coop program. But as parenting takes more time, we have decided to focus our energies on growing meats and flowers. To that end, Hillary is very excited to step back from year-round Saturday markets in 2026 and grow high quality flowers with her long-time co-conspirator, Carolyn for our bouquet subscriptions and area florists and designers.
